3rd CA posting : My personal best

It has only been a day since the fun filled outing and yet, 5 of my cousins have decided to go jogging and have invited me to go with them. Though this isn't the first time I have gone jogging with them, I always end up walking a long distance, taking about 50 minutes to complete a 5 km run.
But this time, I was filled with determination to at least beat one of them. At approximately 5, we met together at East Coat Park and after doing some warm up, we started to run. I had a good start. But before long, I started to feel weary. But I told myself that I had to persevere if I ever wanted to be better. So I did, I concentrated and ran at my own pace.
After what seemed like etertinity, I reached the halfway point, I ran without stopping. My position was 3rd. A considerable feat for me. As I turned, I bit my lips and continued to pace myself and keep running. Though weariness was starting to leak into me, I repeatedly told myself to not stop. I prayed and just ran and ran and ran. Before long, I recognized the starting point in the distance. The temptation to stop was unbearable but in the end, I reached the end, huffing and puffing really loudly. I came in 2nd!! I couldn't believe it! My timing was close to 35 minutes or so. When we were united after the run, everybody was shocked, especially myself. I guess this is the power of determination.
We had a light cycle as warm down as to not have aches the next day. The sea breeze was really cooling. There was a constant breeze which seemed to reward me for my perseverance. HA HA.All right, time to boast to my family about my amazinf feat. Bye!!

2nd CA posting : The outing with my family

The day has arrived, I almost couldn't sleep last night, I was just so excited. Our very first extended family outing together of 2008. Though Uncle Jon is currently overseas for a business trip, I'm sure we'll still have fun, though jokes will be lacked.
The weather is looking really good, clouds block the sun occasionally, promising a day not too hot.
Everyone was punctual and ready to go. Once getting our tickets, we rushed in and started buying candy and enjoying our rides, though the queues could be annoying, the wait was worth it. My favourite was the Inverter. It would carry you high up and start spinning in mid-air, bone chilling and heart dropping but it was definitely a great experience for me. The girls had no sense of fun at all. All they rode were the Ferris wheel and the kiddy roller coaster. The adults on the other hand were a much better sport. Accompanying the daring children on the most craziest rides such as the Pirate Ship, the Rainbow and the Inverter. The go-kart would be my second all time best,as some of my shorter cousins could not clear the minimum height, I had to play it with my older cousins. We incessantly pictured the kart and the race track as Initial D's Irohazaka map. Just not as fast...
We then had lunch at Orange Julius after the rides. The rides stole some of our appetites though. I tried their speciality, their orange juice and it was simply heaven. It tasted so fresh. By the time we finished our lunch, it was already 2. And by vote, we decided to head to Singapore Swimming Club for a bowl and a swim. I never knew I was that bad at bowling, guttering 6 out of 10 of my bowls. Arghhh, even my 6 year old cousin beat me to it,well he had bumpers.
After my total defeat, all the cousins thunder balled into the refreshing cool waters, racing each other and having lots of fun. The adults didn't want to swim, instead they talked and watched us swim. Spoil Sports!! We had dinner there and played some arcade games before heading to Sean's house to watch The Spongebob Squarepants movie as requested by me!! It was totally hilarious. I laughed till my sides ached and i almost cried. Really! By the time the movie ended, it was already close to 10. Though we wanted to play some more, the adults insisted that we head home as we had already been out the whole day. Exhausted we were but there was definitely enough for us to play on. Oh well, everyone enjoyed themselves and I'm glad that all of us wanted another outing.

First CA posting : A small contribution goes a long way

It had been almost 2 months since my maternal relatives had a get together. The last time we met was during our trip to China to have a taste of their rich culture and to visit our great grandfather's old house in a tiny village called Nan An. I came to know that if it was not for my grandfather's determination and hard work, I would probably still be in China farming. The trip has really an eye-opener for me to work hard and to appreciate what I have here in Singapore.
Since out trip to China, it has been extremely challenging to find a time slot to meet up. Everyone has been busy either catching up with friends, or with their hectic work schedule. I would always try to coax everyone into trying to free up a day for a 'bonding session', stating that 'blood is thicker than water', but they simply ignored this.
Frustrated, I eventually decided to get down to some hard-core planning and thinking, instead of simply speaking, since actions speak louder than words. Ambitiously, I had the aim of planning something as meaningful as our trip to China. With much difficulty, I individually identified a time where all of us would likely be free. I figured an Escape Theme Park would be good fun, probably being able to help the adults unwind from the stress gripping onto them. It has also been long since the cousins last went there. Adding a few other ideas, I finalised the programme: Meet in the morning on a Saturday, splurge and play, enjoy the rides, have lunch, play even more, go to Singapore Swimming Club for bowling and a swim, have dinner there and then crash at someone’s house for a movie. Perfecto!
As it turned out, the whole programme turned out to be a blast! I have learnt much from this, encompassing the lesson that even a small spark can trigger off a huge influence. All of us had so much fun and such good emotional bonding among one other that I was asked to organise such an outing again! I sure am looking forward to doing so when I have the chance! Bye!
